Which countries support the SEPA format?

SEPA payments are only used for euro-denominated transactions.

In Eurozone countries, the SEPA scheme should apply to all bank accounts. This includes:

  • - Austria
  • - Belgium
  • - Cyprus
  • - Estonia
  • - Finland
  • - France
  • - Germany
  • - Greece
  • - Ireland
  • - Italy
  • - Latvia
  • - Lithuania
  • - Luxembourg
  • - Malta
  • - Monaco
  • - Netherlands
  • - Portugal
  • - San Marino
  • - Slovakia
  • - Slovenia
  • - Spain

In non-eurozone countries, the SEPA schemes can be used, but only for euro-denominated payments. For payments made in the local currency, national schemes should continue to be used. This includes countries such as:

  • - Bulgaria
  • - Croatia
  • - Czech Republic
  • - Denmark
  • - Hungary
  • - Iceland
  • - Liechtenstein
  • - Norway
  • - Poland
  • - Romania
  • - Sweden
  • - Switzerland
  • - United Kingdom
